There were significant shortcomings in the existing UX design, which lacked clarity and proper guidance. The available UX design resources were scattered across the internet, making it challenging for users to access and understand the material. They were disconnected from the real world and how the problem in design is approached in big companies with a lack of job assistance.
When I joined the Caffeine UX design studio team as a UX design intern in Dec 2022, I was responsible for solving this problem from scratch with 1 other teammate, in collaboration with the academy founders.
By the end of the internship, I defined the problems and product direction, and delivered wireframes and hi-fi interfaces.
The problem lies in the fragmented landscape of online UX courses and self-learning resources. Learners face challenges with scattered, inconsistent materials, varying quality, lack of clear guidance, potential exposure to outdated information, limited interaction opportunities, overwhelming choices, and accessibility barriers. A solution is needed to aggregate high-quality, up-to-date resources, offer structured learning paths, and provide support for learners navigating the dynamic field of UX design
Major challenges - Fragmented resources, lack of guidance, Quality Variability, Outdated information etc.
Upon conducting market research we found there are majorly three types of UX courses that were offered
A majority of the portion was institute-based courses on local levels and self-learners who were either taking self-paced courses or learning from online resources. We decided to segment users based on these and perform user research.
